Tiny Homes! They are fast becoming all the rage, and why not?! Who wouldn’t want to get a nature fix that’s just like camping but with the luxury of a comfy bed, kitchen, ensuite and yep, even a flushing toilet! …well, you have to pump it with your foot, but that will do just fine!
We’ve recently enjoyed an amazing little get-away into the wild for 2 nights staying in a Tiny House hidden amongst the rolling hills and gum trees of the Hunter Valley, NSW. This little getaway was to celebrate our 9 year wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint.
These amazing ‘cubby houses for adults’ are completely off grid and eco friendly, providing an awesome little ‘glamping’ alternative for outdoor lovers. With a rise in popularity you’ll find these Tiny Homes throughout Australia and they give you the opportunity to escape the daily grind, switch off and give those fingers a rest from scrolling ‘the gram’. Just what we all need right?
Most Tiny Homes are located on rural properties a few hours drive from major towns and cities and depending on the time of year you should be able to enjoy a campfire. With the magic of solar power and gas you don’t have to forego any of the creature comforts that you are used to. We had a cute little fridge to keep our drinks cold, enjoyed hot water showers and cooked our meals on the gas stove top (when not cooking over the campfire).
Our little Tiny Home could sleep up to 4 with a loft style queen bed and a convertible lounge down stairs.. or is that, down the ladder haha. As it’s name suggests it’s pretty tiny so when packing make sure you leave the big suit cases at home and opt for some smaller luggage – embracing the minimal simplistic theme. You’ll be surprised at how much you don’t need. Our tiny home supplied us with Shampoo, Conditioner and Shower gel as well as all the ‘homey-bits’ like plates, cutlery, pots and pans, oil and washing up liquid etc. All you need to bring is your own clothes and food.
Slipping away for a little getaway is definitely good for the soul and enjoying the time in a tiny home, away from all the crowds and fanfare of a town was right up our alley. But, what’s a trip to the Hunter Valley without visiting a few wineries right?! So as an extra surprise for Rob I arranged for us to enjoy a wine tour with Wine D Road tours. Our host Dan was great and the best part was that he picked us up and dropped us off at our Tiny House accommodation. It was the perfect mix of quiet downtime and celebratory fun!
If you are looking for a mini get-away to recharge the batteries we highly recommend taking a little getaway and enjoying a tiny house experience. We found our Tiny home – which is called Francisco d’Anconia via in2thewild but you can also find some cute listing on Airbnb too. (If you book your Airbnb via our link we can give you $50 credit towards your first stay! …enjoy).
I think we may need to find more of these little beauties and try them all – how about you?!
